50 Mile Pyrenees Trek for The Play Barn Project

Support our Charity, The Play Barn Project!

This is a brilliant long weekend to climb the highest mountain in the Pyrenees. Pico Aneto lies on the side of the Spanish side of the frontier and tops out at a heady 3,404metres. It has the largest remaining glacier in the Pyrenees, and an airy traverse to reach the summit point. To climb this we shall need ice axe and crampons, and be roped up for the glacier and the Pas de Mohammed.

Date: Thursday 26th June- Sun 29th June 2014

Grade and fitness: 3+, the summit day will be between 8 and 12 hours depending on the group’s fitness and ability. You should have a decent level of fitness, and be comfortable with an 8 hour hill day with a 10kg rucsac, before attempting this mountain.

Trip profile: 1 short walk to the Refuge, 1 big summit day and a good half day walk back over the border.

Costing around £1200 (tbc) Includes: Airport transfers- to and from the roadhead. 2 night’s accommodation at the Renclusa Refuge on half board, 2 picnic lunches and sit down lunch. All guiding and loan equipment and instruction in the use of ice axe and crampons.
